In the world we currently live in, there are many distractions from a person’s daily life. The world is constantly changing. There are recent studies that have been published saying that church attendance has fallen significantly and that people don’t seem to believe that God or faith in God is as relevant as it once was.
In my view of things, faith is a relevant as it always was. We find the following scripture in Hebrews 11:6 ‘But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.’
From this scripture we see that 1) we need faith in order to please God, and 2) it shows us that for those of us that come to God, we first must believe that God “Is” (meaning that he exists) and that He (God) is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. We have to be active in our belief that God exists. It takes faith to believe that, because we do not see God with our natural eyes. It also takes faith because of all of the distractions that exist in our daily lives. The concept of diligently seeking Him means that this is a continual process not a once and done kind of thing.
Is our goal to please God as it should be in our hearts? In order to please Him, we must have the faith to believe that God does exist and that he rewards us if we seek him with all our hearts. It all starts with faith. Faith in the unseen world. A life without faith, leaves us in a kind of void where we only trust in ourselves. I think we can see from many of the situations we see around the world, that believing and trusting only in ourselves can lead to all kinds of unhappiness and tragedy. So yes in my way of life and thinking, faith is relevant to who we are and all we do.
